Many years ago, when I was a music teacher in public school, I had "discovered" some good 'old' records in the archived library closets only to find out later that they were all headed for the dumpster. So, knowing where the old stuff is headed these days, I taped them all before they were destroyed.
So what I have done here is that I have downloaded them for anyone who might be interested in hearing about the lives of a few people who are considered to be among the greatest of composers. These recordings are done with no frills and pictures, thus most children today can't pay attention long enough to swat a fly, but they are good enough for the many folks who know nothing about these composers. These short recordings could possibly be of interest. Most of these composers led some very difficult lives - but they were all very 'interesting.'
Note that this is not being presented as a Christian series - just as true stories of their lives. There were a few Christians and a few who were not; some obvious and some not obvious - some even actively denied Christianity as the Bible defines it! For example, Beethoven was not a Christian. In fact, his music was dedicated to nature and to Mary. He led people away from the Godly music that was written before him.
In fact, not all of these composers writings are to even be considered acceptable and approved unto God. I am only hoping that these recordings will help some folks understand even more of my Shem, Ham & Japheth music history preaching material when it comes to the 'style of music' of particular periods and the composers of such.
These recordings have
some talking, then some excerpts of their music, then some more talking
with more excerpts.
They are 'easy listening'
recordings of approx 20 minutes each.
Remember also, the recordings were taken off of old records - so don't expect some high tech quad 4 stereo "live in the theater" sound! In fact, while the music seemed to transfer ok, the voice quality is quite 'strange' sounding - but it is all still understandable for those interested.
